    Hyderabad: Two traders held for using ethylene ripening powder; artificial ripener, mangoes seized

    Hyderabad: Two traders who were ripening fruits using ethylene ripening powder were caught by the Commissioner’s Task Force (southwest) team on Saturday. The police seized five packets of FYK ethylene fruit ripener and mangoes from them. Acting on a tip off, the Task Force team nabbed Irfan Khan (35) and Mohd Hussain (47), at MJ Market were found to be adopting artificial ripening methods to ripen mangoes. “Both the persons purchased the fruit ripening powder sachets from some people and used it. Consumption of the substance is harmful to the human body,” said DCP Task Force, S Rashmi Perumal.

    PM Modi to hold roadshow in Hyderabad on March 15

    Hyderabad: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will hold a roadshow in Hyderabad on Friday and address BJP rallies in Telangana on March 16 and March 18 ahead of the Lok Sabha polls. Modi’s roadshow would be held for an hour from Mirjaguda to Malkajgiri here Friday evening, Telangana BJP sources said on Thursday. On March 16, he will address a public meeting at Nagarkurnool, they said. Modi would attend a rally at Jagtial in the state on March 18, they added. Modi on March 5 inaugurated and laid the foundation for development projects worth more than Rs 7,200 crore at Sangareddy, about 60 km from Hyderabad. Addressing a BJP rally at Sangareddy, Modi had attacked the Congress, saying it was ‘scared’ to promote young leaders. In his address, Modi also said the “dynastic parties” were targeting him as he was exposing their “scams worth several thousands of crores of rupees.”

    IIT-Hyderabad cluster receives Rs. 60 cr grant from DST for SATHI scheme

    Sangareddy: The Indian Institute of Technology-Hyderabad (IIT-H)Cluster has been awarded aRs. 60 crore grant by the Department of Science and Technology (DST) under the Sophisticated Analytical and Technical Help Institutes (SATHI) scheme. Only three clusters have been selected under the SATHI scheme. The proposed IIT-H centre, called the Centre for In-Situ and Correlative Microscopy (SATHI-CISCoM), will serve as the cornerstone for cutting-edge characterisation. The proposed centre would be the first of its kind to enable real-time characterisation across multiple length scales for fundamental and industrial R&D purposes.     BJP leader’s son among 10 arrested for consuming drugs at Hyderabad hotel

    The Hyderabad Police arrested ten people, including the son of a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader, for possession and consumption of cocaine at a party in a five-star hotel room, officials said on Monday. Police said that Gajjala Vivekanand, son of BJP leader G Yoganand and grandson of former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister K Rosaiah, was arrested for consuming cocaine during a party organised in a hotel room of Radisson Blu in Gachibowli. Nine others, including one Syed Abbas Ali Jeffery, Nirbhay and Kedhar, were also arrested in the same case. Following a tip off, police conducted a raid at the hotel and seized three used plastic covers containing cocaine (each weighing one gram before consumption), white-coloured paper used for drug consumption, and three cellphones.     Fake matrimonial profile led to Hyderabad businesswoman kidnapping anchor

    A businesswoman in Hyderabad was arrested for stalking and kidnapping a television anchor after an unknown person, impersonating him, allegedly duped her and disappeared with money, police said on Saturday.  Bhogireddy Trisha, the Managing Director of five startup companies, kidnapped the television anchor Pranav Sistla after she was duped for Rs 40 lakh by an unknown individual who used Pranav’s photo in his profile on a matrimonial site. The 31-year-old woman, who runs a digital marketing company, and five of her accomplices were arrested by the Telangana Police on February 22. The investigation revealed intriguing details about the crime, as the woman, who, according to the police, was an “intimacy-seeking stalker”, even attached an AirTag to the anchor’s car to trace his movements.     Hyderabad: A married woman has approached the Narsingi police alleging that one Sudarshan, reportedly a local leader from the ruling Congress party, has been sexually harassing her, on Friday. The 35-year-old woman from Hydershakote in her complaint said, Sudarshan had been harassing her to have an extramarital affair with him. When she refused, he started harassing. He also installed surveillance cameras towards her residence and has been watching her movements. The Narsingi police are investigating.
