Madras HC refuses to ban Cauvery protests in TN.

Madurai, Apr 4 (UNI) Madras High Court Madurai Bench has refused to ban the protests being staged by ruling and opposition political parties in Tamil Nadu over the delay in setting up the Cauvery Management Board (CMB) by the Centre.

A division bench comprising Justices C.T.Selvam and A.M.Basheer Ahamed observed that the court cannot interfere in the issue and declined to take suo motu action, while hearing a petition on Tuesday filed by a social activist K.K.Ramesh, who sought the court intervention to ban the protests as the agitations were affecting normal life.

The petitioner claimed that the protests by political parties, traders federations and farmers associations in the state were causing much inconvenience to the public, besides affecting the students.
