Scheme to supply free LPG connections to poor women launched


Hyderabad, Apr 14 (UNI) Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Dharmendra Pradhan launched in Telangana the ambitious Prdhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana to provide free LPG connections to poor women on Saturday.

At a well-attended function in Suryapet, the Minister formally launched the scheme and also handed over a few free LPG connections to women from Below Poverty Line (BPL) families.

Over five crore families stand to benefit by the scheme for which the Centre had earmarked Rs 8,000 crore.

A large number of BJP leaders and cadres, including the party’s state unit president K Laxman and BJP floor leader in the Assembly G Kishen Reddy were also present.
