Jagan Mohan Reddy’s padayatra enters Vijayawada


Vijayawada, Apr 14(UNI) The marathon padayatra of Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly and YSRCP president Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy entered the city at Krishna Lanka here on Saturday.

Mr Reddy resumed his 136th day padayatra, christened as “Praja Sankalpa Padayatra” in Tadepalli near here and entered the city after walking about a kilometer on the Kanaka Durga Varadi, across the river Krishna, on the Kolkata-Chennai national highway.

He was accorded a warm welcome when he entered the city. Entire one km long Kanaka Durga Bridge was seen full of YSRCP activists who followed Jagan Reddy. Thousands of flexi banners and party flags were erected either side of the road welcoming him.

YSRCP leaders Malladi Vishnu, K Parthasarathi, MLA Kodali Venkateswara Rao Nani and large number of other leaders accompanied him. Jagan Moha Reddy began his 3000 km Praja Sankalpa Padayatra at Idupulapaya village on November 6, 2017 after offering prayers at the tomb of former Chief Minister and Jagan Reddy’s father Y S Rajasekhar Reddy.

Mr Reddy went towards BRTS road in Satyanarayanapuram through Sikhamani Centre. He will address a public meeting in Chittinagar in the evening, where some TDP leaders are expected to join the YSRCP in the presence of Jagan Mohan Reddy.

Due to Jagan Mohan Reddy’s padayatra the traffic on the busy Chennai-Kolkata highway disrupted for few hours resulting in hundreds of vehicles stranded either side of the road. Due to diversion of traffic, the vehicular traffic came to a standstill for over a couple hours on the Prakasham barrage. Several VIPs, including Minister and TDP state president K Kala Venkata Rao were stuck in the traffic on the Prakasham barrage.
