Dark Horse Direct will include ‘Game of Thrones’ and ‘Umbrella Academy’ statues and replicas.

For more than 30 years, Dark Horse Comics has been releasing work by some of the medium’s top creators, including Frank Miller, Mike Mignola and Carla Speed McNeil. Launching today, a new division of the company will diversify its output, with Dark Horse Direct created specifically to offer high-end, limited-edition collectibles via its online storefront.

“Dark Horse Direct is the latest example in Dark Horse’s long history of innovative business practices,” company president and founder Mike Richardson said in a statement. “Dark Horse constantly looks for new ways to inspire passion in our fans in every format possible, which is why a direct-to-consumer program is the most logical move as we continue to grow our business and cultivate new fans.”

Two of the first three releases from the new division center around HBO’s Game of Thrones: a Tormund Giantsbane figure, to be released in August for $40, and an 18-inch Iron Throne Replica created in partnership with HBO Licensing and Retail and Gentle Giant; the latter will retail for $499.99, and be available for preorder in coming weeks. The Tormund Giantsbane figure will actually debut at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con, with 300 figures available at Dark Horse’s retail booth at the show (#2615).

The third release comes from a Dark Horse Comics title. The Umbrella Academy Spaceboy maquette will stand 14 inches tall and is based on the character from the fan-favorite Gerard Way and Gabriel Ba comic book series; already available for preorder, the statue will retail for $299.99.

Overseeing the line is Melissa Lomax, the newly installed director of e-commerce for Dark Horse Direct. (She previously served as the company’s director of marketing.) “This is an exciting new opportunity for us to create fresh and unique collectibles that will delight our current fans, as well as new pop-culture enthusiasts, with premium concepts and formats,” she said in a statement about the line. “Get excited! Some really special items are coming and want a place in your home.”
