Hyderabad, July 20 (NSS): Chief Secretary SK Joshi today said Rs 2000 crore were allotted in the budget for the Minorities’ Welfare for the current financial year.
Speaking at a review meeting at the Secretariat with officials on Minorities Welfare here on Friday, the Chief Secretary directed the officials concerned to prepare a proposal to be submitted to the Centre for setting up National Skill Development Center in the State. He said the government has already filled 1,321 teacher posts and was planning to fill another 772 teaching posts besides 1,863 TERI posts soon.
The CS said as many as 64,000 students were studying in 204 Minorities Residential Schools opened in the State. He directed the officials to come up with complete details of the Wakf lands, which will accommodate new educational institutions. For the Skill Development Program of the Centre for the Minorities students, Joshi asked the officials to prepare the plan for establishment of National Skill Development Center, which will be sent to the Centre. He disclosed that 11,746 applications were approved out of 24,662 applications received under Shadi Mubarak scheme and 968 candidates selected Under Minorities Overseas Scholarship scheme released Rs 109 crore.
The Chief Secretary said the Centre sanctioned seven Minorities Residential Skill Development Centers for 2015-16 and allocated Rs 126 crore under Multi Sector Development with Rs 37.8 crore share and State’s share of Rs 25.20 crore. It also sanctioned six residential schools in 2017-18 with Rs 10.08 crore share and Rs 21.60 crore State’s share, he added.
The CS said the Center for Educational Development of Minorities was offering coaching for Minority youth for IAS, Sub-Inspector and constable competitive examinations besides encouraging young entrepreneurs. He also asked the Minorities Finance Corporation to speed up the self-employment.schemes. He discussed the issues related to Aneesul Gurba, Jamia Nizamia, Jahangir Peer Dargah, Islamic Cultural Center and Minorities Welfare.
