Centre tells SC: Likely to take call on GM mustard case issue in Sep


New Delhi, Jul 31 (UNI) The Central government today told the Supreme Court that it would likely to take a decision in September regarding GM (Genetically Modified) mustard case issue.

The crop season starts from October, so after that the apex court should hear the matter, the Central government lawyer told the Court.

A two judge bench of the Supreme Court, headed by Chief Justice Jagdish Singh Khehar and also comprising Justice D. Y Chandrachud was hearing the plea filed by one NGO, Gene Campaign.

The next date of hearing is likely to be fixed in the second week of September.
