Labour court attaches properties of Express TV


Hyderabad Oct 12 (UNI) For the first time in Telangana, the Labour Court attached the media properties of Express TV for not disbursing salaries for several months.

Informing this to media here yesterday, Telangana Union of Working Journalists President and Press Academy Chairman Allam Narayana said that Express TV had not been disbursing salaries to the staff for the past one year.

The leaders of journalist unions approached the management of the Express TV and urged to pay salaries to their staff but in vain. The Journalist unions also organised agitations against the adamant attitude of the TV channel management.

As a final attempt, the Journalists approached the labour court against the Management, Mr Narayana said.

The court delivered judgment in favour of the journalists by attaching Rs.3.50 crore worth properties of the media house.

Mr Narayana said that the Telangana Journalist Unions always wish that the media would expand but it would fight, if injustice is meted out to the journalists and staff.

Mr. Narayana urged the court to auction the properties of the media house and disburse the Rs.1.50 crore worth salary arrears of the staff.

Journalist leaders Kranthi, Maruthi Sagar and Ismail were also present.
