Alur: Heavy rain lashed the town on Thursday causing havoc with the road network getting severely damaged and paralysing transportation. Normal life was strongly affected as it has been raining for the last 15 days. The Kaddilavagu and Katravanka were overflowing, along with other water bodies. Residents of the town are a scared lot following the heavy rain.
Alur CI Abdul Gouse played his part in rendering assistance to the needy rain-hit people. The to and fro travel between Adoni and Guntakal has been stopped, causing severe hardship to long distance passengers.
The Kaddilavagu in the Alur-Guntakali area was heavily flooded, resulting in the road getting washed away. Vehicles were stranded. A resident of Timmapur, Ravi, was stuck in the water while trying to cross the canal. Some residents nearby and the police rescued him.
The Katravanka overflowed on the Alur-Bellary national highway near Chintakunta. A private bus, with 20 passengers coming from Karnataka, got stuck in the swirling water. Staffers of the Revenue, Fire Services and Police jointly rendered assistance to the passengers and helped them safely cross the water body.
Adoni RDO Obulesu supervised the rescue work in which the CI Dhanunjay, SI Krishnamurthy, Fire Officer Hussain Khan, and Tahsildar Hussain participated. Dananjay appealed to bus passengers to be alert while passing by near water bodies. He said the Police department was ready to render assistance to the needy at any time.
