World record by Army in blood donation, physical fitness


Hyderabad, Jan 2 (UNI) Two high range Book of World Records was achieved by Indian Army of Secunderabad Cantonment in the year 2017.

The records were largest voluntary blood donation & awareness camp on the occasion of Army Day 2017″, wherein 2795 blood units were donated for the Thalassemia, Leukaemia and other needy patients.

A largest physical fitness camp was held on the occasion of International Sports Day 2017″, wherein 2305 persons participated. The event carried out rigorous physical fitness exercises of various types continuously for 30 minutes under the guidance of Dr Jayanth Reddy and his coaches to promote Taekwondo martial arts, physical fitness and mental health.

A felicitation ceremony was held at the 1 EME Centre, Secunderabad on December 30.

Dr Christina Z Chogthu, IAS, Managing Director, Telangana Tourism Development Corporation who is the Chief Guest, presented the awards appreciating the efforts of Army in contributing towards the humanitarian causes by organising such a massive voluntary blood donation and awareness camps, thus saving so many human lives, besides performing their rigorous and challenging official commitments, a defence statement said here on Tuesday.
