SCR GM holds meeting with AP MPs

Vijayawada, Jan 9 (UNI) South Central Railway (SCR) General Manager Vinod Kumar Yadav held a meeting with the MPs from Andhra Pradesh to receive their proposals to incorporate them in the ensuing Railway budget.

The Meeting was held in the Railway training centre here on Tuesday. MPs of the Telugu Desam Party, and Opposition YSRCP attended the meeting which lasted for about three hours.

The MPs submitted to the GM about their requirements, including urging to complete the pending projects, launching of new railway lines and introducing of new trains. The ruling TDP MPs submitted representations urging the railway GM to provide direct rail connectivity to Amaravati from Rayalaseema region. They also discussed on the running of a circuit train connecting Guntur-Vijayawada-Tenali-Amaravati. The MPs expressed dissatisfaction at the SCR GM over pending of railway projects, sanctioned in the earlier budget and snail pace of Railway works.

Meanwhile, talking to media, TDP MP J C Diwakar Reddy made it clear that the MPs had nothing to do on the establishment of Railway zone in Visakhapatnam. Mr Reddy said that the MP was relegated to such a level that they would only raise their hands at the behest of their leaders.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has to take a decision on the establishment of railway zone in the state as per the state Re-organisation Act 2014 provisions.

TDP MPs M Murali Mohan, Avanthi Srinivas, Maganti Babu, J C Diwakar Reddy and YSRCP MPs M Rajamohan Reddy, Avinash Reddy and Y V Subba Reddy were among the MPs, who attended the meeting.
