Hyderabad, Jan.12 (NSS): Women and girls of Ameenpur village, who have been part of the effort to spread awareness about protection and rejuvenation of Ameenpur Lake system, will be participating in Rangoli competition “Muthyala Muggu” on Peddacheruvu bund on January 13 between 10.30 am and 12.30 pm.
Prospective contestants will make colourful rangoli based on images of birds, flowers, leaves, trees and animals to spread the message of conservation of Nature and protection of birds and animals. As a token of appreciation, the Telangana State Special Protection Force will give the participating women and girls a small steel utensil as a gift besides awards for the prize winners in three different age groups.
“Protecting and caring for the biodiversity of the Ameenpur Lake poses several challenges. We are engaging all stakeholders, particularly the residents of the lake environs about how the water bodies have to be safeguarded from the ecological perspective,” said Tejdeep Kaur Menon, Director General of Police, Telangana State Special Protection Force (TSSPF).
The TSSPF, which has adopted the Ameenpur lake system, is hosting the program along with the Hyderabad Birding Pals and the Friends of Flora and Fauna as part of the campaign to enrich the Biodiversity Heritage Site., Tejdeep Kaur Menon, convenor, Biodiversity Heritage Site Management Committee said.
