Hyderabad, Feb 13 (UNI) The city of world famous Biryani and pearls will pay host to Iranian President Hassan Rouhani later this week.
Dr.Rouhani, will arrive in the city on Thursday next (February 15) on a two-day visit, and to quote the Consulate General of Islamic Republic of Iran sources, to strengthen the business ties with southern states of India.
This will be his second visit to the city and the first after he became the President of Islamic Republic of Iran.
On the first day, Dr Rouhani will address Muslim intellectuals and clerics and the following day he will address Muslim congregation after offering Friday prayers at Mecca Masjid located near the historic Charminar.
A visit to the famous Qutub Sahi tombs near Golconda fort and paying homage to erstwhile founders of Hyderabad with Irani lineage are among his itinerary.
The city of Hyderabad has a long and historical ties with Iran and the architect of the city Mir Momin was an Iranian.The city is also home for a large number of Iranians and the Iranian festival Nowruz is celebrated annually in which large number of Iranian residents, students and local people participate.
The Consulate of the Islamic Republic of Iran coverning southern states of Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Kerala is located in Hyderabad.
Interestingly, the favourite rendezvous of most Hyderabadis is the Irani cafes and restaurants dotted all over the city where friends chat over endless cups of the famous “Irani chai” (tea) and Osmania biscuits.
