Panaji, Feb 13 (UNI) Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar on Tuesday discribed Prime Minister Narendra Modi as a visionary leader with feet on the ground and said the state was lucky as the Prime Minister had additional soft cornor for Goa.
Speaking at a function organised in the city, he said while the Prime Minister was rubbing shoulders with world leaders, he had humility to inquire about the status of Open Defecation Free (ODF) of the state.
“On one hand, he was delivering a speech in Abu Dhabi, addressing an international audience, international leadership… today his ranking is among the top three (international leaders). But his feet are on the ground… ..it is not easy to get a leader of that vision. I have seen him how he works… I was always his supporter only because he was doing things, but when I saw him from close, I saw what is the concept of (his) vision,” the Chief Minister said.
Mr Parrikar said while Mr Modi was a world leader he was worried about ODF also.
”I would get calls from his office, or he would write a letter or speak to me and enquire about Swachh Bharat..He remembers Goa, as a lucky mascot or maybe for other reasons, or maybe for some other reasons. We should take advantage of that,” he said.
The former Defence minister said the state was lucky as the Prime Minister had additional soft corner for Goa and he had never said no to any projects in Goa.
”Anything I talk to him..In fact next day after the decision on mining came, I got a call from his office saying what is the economical impact, prepare a report and mail it. This was the message from his office,” Mr Parrikar said.
The Chief Minister said the Prime Minister had always been supporting Goa and the state should take advantage of that.
