
Security forces have recovered the bodies of 30 Naxalites along with a large number of AK-47 rifles and semi-automatic weapons.
Kothagudem: As many as 30 Maoists and one jawan have been killed in separate incidents of exchange of fire between the security forces and CPI (Maoist) cadres in Bastar region of Chhattisgarh on Thursday.
In an encounter on the borders of Bijapur and Dantewada districts in the State 26 Maoists have been killed. Security forces have recovered the bodies of 30 Naxalites along with a large number of AK-47 rifles and semi-automatic weapons. One jawan of Bijapur DRG, Raju Oyyami was killed in the encounter, said Bastar Inspector General of Police Sundarraj P. Search operations have been going on Bijapur and Dantewada under Gangaloor police station limits, he added.
In another anti-naxal operation by a joint party of DRG and STF personnel on the borders of Kanker-Narayanpur districts four Naxalites were killed and their bodies were recovered.
Naxalites blasted an IED during wee hours targetting the jawans. A jawan and an officer were immediately taken out of the operation area for treatment as dust and dirt hit their eyes. After initial treatment, both of them were in better condition, police said
It might be recalled that as many as 31 Maoists have been killed in exchange of fire between the security forces and CPI (Maoists) in Indravati National Park area in Bijapur district of Chhattisgarh in February.
