Rajesh Khanna’s 17 Consecutive Hits Streak Remains Unbroken As Akshay Gives Flops In A Row

After the success of Airlift in 2016, there was no looking back for Akshay Kumar as he delivered one hit after the other.

So much so, that by the end of 2019, the superstar had delivered 12 back-to-back box office successes and was on course to take down the long standing record of 17 hits in a row of his late father-in-law and first superstar of Indian cinema, Rajesh Khanna.

These 12 hits of Akshay’s included Airlift, Housefull 3, Rustom, Jolly LLB 2, Toilet: Ek Prem Katha, Pad Man, Gold, 2.0, Kesari, Mission Mangal, Housefull 4 & Good Newwz.

On the other hand, the 17 hits in row for Rajesh Khanna included, Aradhana, Doli, Bandhan, Ittefaq, Do Raaste, Khamoshi, Safar, The Train, Kati Patang, Sachaa Jhutha, Aan Milo Sajna, Mehboob Ki Mehendi, Choti Bahu, Anand, Andaz, Maryada and Haathi Mere Saathi.

After the success of Good Newwz, Akshay seemed invincible at the box office and was speculated that he will now easily surpass Rajesh Khanna and his record that seemed unbeatable will finally be overtaken.

After Good Newwz, Akshay’s next was an OTT release Laxmii followed by Bell Bottom which had a fractured theatrical release during the second wave.

His third release Sooryavanshi brought in good numbers but post that it all went downhill for him.

So far, the actor had two releases in 2022 – Bachchhan Paandey & Samrat Prithviraj and both turned out to be huge disasters.

And with that Akshay’s winning streak of 12 successes came to end.

Earlier, Salman had delivered 10 successes in a row between 2010 to 2016 with films like Dabangg, Dabangg 2, Sultan & Bajrangi Bhaijaan.

But then, his 11th film Tubelight flopped at the box office.

Similarly, Ayushmann Khurrana was on a winning streak with 8 successes in a row from Bareilly Ki Barfi to Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan.

But, last year he delivered a flop in Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui and this year, Anek too bombed at the box office.

Currently, no Bollywood star is even close to the 51-year-old box office record of Rajesh Khanna.

Even after all these years, India’s first superstar reigns supreme.
