Liverpool star Mohamed Salah signs new long-term contract with the club
Liverpool has announced that Egyptian forward Mohamed Salah has signed a new long-term contract with the club on Friday.
Salah was a pivotal part of the Merseyside club’s run last season as they won the FA and Carabao Cups and reached the final of the Champions League, where they lost to Real Madrid. Jurgen Klopp’s team also pushed Manchester City all the way for the Premier League title as well.
The Egyptian forward reached the 31-goal mark during the last campaign and was also named the FWA Footballer Of The Year and PFA Players’ Player Of The Year.
On Friday, in a statement on their official website, Liverpool confirmed that Salah had signed a new deal. The contract, according to the British media, is valid till 2025.
Liverpool FC are delighted to announce Mohamed Salah has signed a new long-term contract with the club.
“The forward, who was named the FWA Footballer of the Year and the PFA Players’ Player of the Year for 2021-22 after helping Jürgen Klopp’s side to a domestic cup double, has committed his future to the Reds by putting pen to paper on the deal on Friday,” said Liverpool.
Salah commented on the contract extension and said that he is excited to win trophies with the club. He said that the team is in a good position to fight for major honours.
“I feel great and [I am] excited to win trophies with the club. It’s a happy day for everyone. It takes a little bit of time, I think, to renew, but now everything is done so we just need to focus on what’s next.”
“I think you can see in the last five or six years the team was always going [upwards]. Last season we were close to winning four, but unfortunately in the last week of the season we lost two trophies.”
“I think we are in a good position to fight for everything. We have new signings as well. We just need to keep working hard, have a good vision, be positive and go for everything again,” said Salah.
