Mumbai man jumps to death to avoid arrest
An alleged thief jumped to death from the fourth floor parapet of a building in Mumbai on Friday. The man identified as Rohit entered the building located in Mumbai’s Marine Lines to carry out a burglary but was caught.
In a video taken from a structure on the building’s opposite side, the man can be seen standing on the parapet even as police officers prepared a safety net for him on the ground.
For hours, residents, police officers and fire brigade officials tried to convince Rohit to come up near the window for his safety. However, Rohit jumped into the compound of the adjacent building.
He was immediately rushed to JJ hospital where he died while undergoing treatment for his injuries.
According to officials, the man climbed the building to avoid getting arrested for theft.
