Chris Evans to not return to MCU as Captain America, actor confirms on Twitter
Chris Evans will not be making a return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Captain America. Fans are disappointed after the actor made the announcement on Twitter after rumours were rife that he will be making a comeback. Chris confirmed that not his Steve Rogers, but Anthony Mackie’s Sam Wilson will be Captain America.

Chris Evans took to Twitter and broke the news on July 9. His one-line tweet broke millions of fans’ hearts who were excited to see him return as Captain America. Chris was first seen as Captain America: The First Avenger in 2011. After playing the part in 10 films, the actor has decided to not return. He passed the baton to his friend in the MCU, Sam Wilson AKA Anthony Mackie.
Chris Evans wrote, “Sam Wilson is Captain America (sic).”
Chris Evans once said that he didn’t want to take the role initially because he was dealing with severe anxiety at that time and considered abandoning acting.

The actor in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter podcast – Awards Chatter, revealed that panic attacks almost led him to repeatedly turn down Marvel before reconsidering taking up the role. Talking about his experience with anxiety and how he tackled it, Chris Evans said, “All of a sudden your hobby becomes your job…That was back when the superhero thing was just taking off. I had just been dumped and I needed it.”
The actor confirmed that he started having panic attacks while filming Puncture in 2010. Evans said that he was not sure about pursing acting and was thinking of abandoning it as a career. He added, “It was the first time I started having mini panic attacks on set. I really started to think, ‘I’m not sure if this [acting] is the right thing for me, I’m not sure if I’m feeling as healthy as I should be feeling.'”
