Doctor G day 1 collection: Ayushmann-Rakul starrer springs a pleasant surprise at box office, takes promising start
After receiving encouraging reviews from critics, Ayushmann Khurrana and Rakul Preet Singh starrer Doctor G has taken a positive start at the box office. The mid-budget film, which arrived in theatres sans much publicity, has exceeded expectations with its day 1 collection.
The Anubhuti Kashyap-directed medical comedy-drama has taken an opening of Rs 3.87 crore, which is commendable considering the fact that it arrived in theatres alongside two other films, Parineeti Chopra’s Code Name: Tiranga and Rishab Shetty’s Kantara (Hindi version).
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh took to Twitter to share the first-day collection of Doctor G. “Despite low pre-release buzz, #DoctorG puts up a decent total on Day 1… National chains fare better, while mass pockets are extremely dull… Has scope for improvement on Day 2 and 3… Needs that push for a respectable weekend total… Fri ₹ 3.87 cr. #India biz,” read his tweet.
The word of mouth for Doctor G has been largely positive, with audience members calling it the right mix of humour and emotions. Besides, both Ayushmann and Rakul are getting rave reviews for their performances. Shefali Shah, who plays a pivotal role in the film, is also being hailed for her impactful act.
