Saiyami Kher opens up on nepotism in Bollywood, says ‘star kids have to struggle even more’

Saiyami Kher is currently winning hearts with her performance in Faadu. Next up, she also has Ghoomer and Sharmajee Ki Beti. Ahead of that, Saiyami sat down for an exclusive conversation with IndiaToday.in where she opened up about her projects. Not only that, the actress also reacted to nepotism in Bollywood and said that the struggle of star kids is even more comparitively as they have to meet the audience’s expectations. Saiyami even gave Anil Kapoor’s son Harshvardhan Kapoor’s example.

SAIYAMI ON NEPOTISM IN BOLLYWOOD

It’s a popular belief of the film industry that it favours the star kids and is cruel to outsiders. Reacting to that, Saiyami said, “I feel that everyone has their share of struggles. I was launched alongside a star kid, Harshvardhan Kapoor, so I know how much he had to struggle. I know how difficult it has been for Harsh and how easily judged he is. People are so nasty to him on social media which is very unfair. They have a very different kind of struggle. The struggle which we face is different too wherein getting an entry through that door is tougher. But for them, they have to struggle even more because the audience has so much of expectations from them. I think we should start becoming more kind to people because they are so busy being mean.”

“I WAS ASKED TO GET NOSE JOB, LIP JOB DONE”

Saiyami Kher also recalled getting body-shamed in the initial days of her career and how trolls asked her to get a lip and nose job done! She said, “I am very thick-skinned. Being an actor makes you that. People judge you, they say nasty things. When I was starting off, I was told you should do a lip job, a nose job. I was told all kinds of things like that. I am pretty comfortable in my own skin. I am happy with the way I am made. So it didn’t bother me so much, but it’s very sad when people body-shame and make nasty remarks because there are people who are dealing with medical problems. There are people who are very sensitive. We need to realise that we can be hurting someone a lot, and we need to be wary of what we say to each other. Otherwise, there will be so much negativity.”

Saiyami Kher’s Faadu released on December 9.
