Miss Universe 2022: Harnaaz Sandhu tears up as she takes her final walk before crowing USA’s R’Bonney Gabriel
Miss Universe 2021 Harnaaz Kaur Sandhu became emotional as she took her final walk before crowing USA’s R’Bonney Gabriel as the new Miss Universe. Sandhu tried holding back her tears as she walked the stage one last time.
The reigning winner was welcomed with loud cheers and claps. She teared up as she waved at the audience. Harnaaz stumbled as she made her way to the front of the stage to pose for the photographers. She quickly regained her balance in no time and continued her walk.
The reigning Miss Universe, Harnaaz Sandhu took her final walk before crowing the new winner which was none other than USA’s R’Bonney Gabriel. As Sandhu took her walk, she became emotional and teared up.
Sushmita Sen won the title for India for the first time in 1994. After Lara Dutta’s victory in 2000, Harnaaz won the pageant and returned the crown to India after 21 years. Harnaaz paid homage to her predecessors, past Miss Universes Lara Dutta and Sushmita Sen, with the gown she wore for her final walk at the 71st Miss Universe competition.

A short voiceover was also played in the background. “I was 17 years old when I first took the stage and since then becoming Miss Universe was my goal. I’ve been given the megaphone on a worldwide stage to present the topic of menstrual equity before world leaders asking them to keep this conversation ongoing,” she said.
In her message to Miss Universe 2022 USA’s R’Bonney Gabriel, Sandhu said, “Remember to live this year to the fullest because tomorrow is never promised. Namaste Universe.”
R’Bonney Gabriel of the United States won the title of Miss Universe 2022, with Amanda Dudamel of Venezuela finishing as the first runner-up and Andreina Martinez of the Dominican Republic being the second runner-up.
