Distribution company claims refund of Rs 6 crore from producers of Kangana Ranaut starrer ‘Thalaivi’
Kangana Ranaut’s ‘Thalaivi’ had released in September 2021. The film was based a biography based on J. Jayalalithaa. While Kangana got a lot of accolades for her performance in the film, it didn’t recover the money. Which is why now, as per reports, Zee which was the worldwide distributor of the film has claimed a refund of Rs 6 crore from the film’s producers.
The distribution company had paid an advance towards the distribution rights of the film of Rs 6 crore which remains unrecouped. Zee has sent letters and emails to the production company for the payment but haven’t got any reply.
Hence, it’s now speculated that they may go to court because it’s been more than a year and a half since the film released. As per reports, the distributors and producers of her film ‘Dhaakad’ are also still recovering from the losses. The actress’ next film is ‘Emergency’ which she is also directing. The film is based on the 1977 Indian Emergency, while Kangana plays the then prime minister Indira Gandhi in the film. It will be the late Satish Kaushik’s last film.
