Mangaluru: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is taking preemptive measures to avoid potential discord within its ranks after announcing its list of candidates for the upcoming election.
With the announcement of the BJP candidate list expected to be released shortly after the Parliamentary Board meeting in New Delhi, the party is taking precautions to address any concerns that may arise.
The last date for filing nominations is April 20, with the election scheduled for May 10. With about one month left for the election, the party wants to ensure that there is no discord within the party.
Given the large number of aspirants vying for the party ticket, those who do not make the cut may feel slighted and unhappy with the party leadership or the candidate who secures the ticket.
This could potentially lead to division among workers and leaders, which the BJP wants to avoid at all costs.
To quell any possible discord, the BJP has already devised a plan.
“In some constituencies, workers may be dissatisfied with the sitting MLA who may be fielded again, and in others, they may be unhappy with the new selection,” a BJP leader told Deccan Chronicle.
“The party has established teams at every booth level to resolve conflicts among workers and leaders. If the situation can be handled at the grassroots level, local leaders will handle it, and if not, higher-ranking leaders will step in,” he added.
The BJP is also organizing a special campaign to meet with workers and stress the importance of unity within the party.
By taking these proactive steps, the party is hopeful that all workers and leaders will remain on the same page, leading to a successful election.
