HYDERABAD: Three teenagers, two brothers and their friend, were electrocuted to death in Paramount Colony in Tolichowki on Wednesday night.
The tragic incident occurred when 15-year-old Mohammed Razak was attempting to repair a broken water pump motor at his home when he was electrocuted, while his 18-year-old brother Mohammed Rizwan, who attempted to save him, was also electrocuted and both fell unconscious into the well.
When the brothers left to repair the water pump motor at around 8.30 pm but did not return until 10.30 pm, the parents of Rizwan and Razak called the victim’s close friend Syed Anasuddin, who lives in the adjacent house, according to the victim’s uncle Mohammed Imran.
Anas, 19, arrived at the two brothers’ residence and discovered them submerged in the sump; as he attempted to get them out, he lost his footing, fell into the sump, and was electrocuted, according to Imran.
The submersible water pump has not been working for the last few days, and Rizwan and his brother Razak had been collecting water from the sump each day after Iftar and bringing it to the second floor of their home.
Unaware that the submersible sump switch was turned on yesterday, the younger brother fell into the five-and-a-half foot sump and was electrocuted; his older brother Rizwan, who attempted to save him, was also electrocuted, according to Banjara Hills police.
According to Anas’s father Syed Basheer, three of the victims were close friends who were fasting and praying together. According to a relative of the victim, Razaq had just completed his SSC exams, Rizwan and Anas were in their final year at St George College and planned to migrate to Australia for higher education.
