Bathinda military base killing: Jawan killed 4 soldiers as he was being harassed, says Army
The killing of four Army jawans at Bathinda military station on April 12 was the result of personal enmity and there is no terror angle, the Army and Punjab Police said in a joint press conference on Monday. Interrogation of the accused jawan revealed that he was allegedly being harassed by the Armymen he killed, they said.
Punjab Police on Monday arrested one Army jawan, identified as Mohan Desai, in connection with the Bathinda military station firing incident in which four jawans were killed.
Bathinda Police and Army addressed a joint press conference in Bathinda on Monday and said that the accused Mohan Desai killed the jawans due to personal rivalry.
“Weapon used to kill the jawans and the rounds were stolen by Desai. He concocted the story. The axe story was false. The accused jawan was trying to confuse the police,” said Punjab Police.
The accused jawan is unmarried and will be produced in the court. Involvement of any other person has not been found so far, added the police.
Four Indian Army jawans were killed in an early-morning firing incident that took place inside the Bathinda Military Station in Punjab on Wednesday.
