Bella Hadid reveals she’s six months sober after ‘losing control’ on nights out

Bella Hadid, 26, has announced that she has gone six months without alcohol by posting a screengrab of a sobriety counter-style app on her phone to celebrate the milestone.

The decision comes after the supermodel spoke out about her feelings towards sobriety last month.

In an interview with InStyle, Bella admitted she had felt herself ‘starting to lose control’ after a heavy night of drinking.

She said: “I have done my fair share of drinking.

“I loved alcohol and it got to the point where even I started to, you know, cancel nights out that I felt like I wouldn’t be able to control myself.

“I don’t feel the need [to drink alcohol] because I know how it will affect me at three in the morning when I wake up with horrible anxiety thinking about that one thing I said five years ago when I graduated high school.

“There’s just this never-ending effect of, essentially, you know, pain and stress over those few drinks that didn’t really do much, you know?”

She told WSJ Magazine in January 2022: “In the last year, it was really important for me to learn that even if people talk about my style or if they like it or if they don’t, it doesn’t matter, because it’s my style.

“When I leave the house in the morning, what I think about is: Does this make me happy? Do I feel good about this and do I feel comfortable?”.

Bella also wrote about her anxieties on Instagram in September 2021, admitting it was something that crept up on her in her twenties.

She wrote: “My social anxiety was something that slowly crept up on me as I grew into my twenties.

“It got harder for me to go out without having one drink to calm my nerves, which made me not want to go out at all, so I was just hibernating between jobs.

Two months later, the supermodel shared photos of herself crying on Instagram to show her followers what her depressive episodes can look like, but noted that “it does get better”.
