Imran Khan arrest live news: Ex-Pakistan PM to appear in court
Detained former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan is due to appear in court after the Supreme Court ruled his arrest earlier this week “unlawful”.
The dramatic arrest on Tuesday triggered clashes with police and paramilitary forces across the country, killing nearly a dozen people. The army was called in to restore order.
Khan given injunction in gifts case
The Islamabad High Court has issued an injunction on criminal proceedings in the state gifts case against Khan, restraining the local accountability court from further proceedings.
The PTI chairman is accused of selling gifts given by foreign dignitaries from the state gift depository and not disclosing the assets in his tax declarations submitted to the commission. Khan has vehemently denied the charges.

Former human rights minister arrested
Former Federal Minister for Human Rights and a close aide of Khan Shireen Mazari has been “illegally abducted”, according her party Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf tole.
“Every day Pakistan is touching a new low,” the party said.
Another prominent leader and former Punjab health minister Yasmin Rashid was also arrested, the said.
Khan to appear before Islamabad High Court
Pakistan’s former Prime Minister Imran Khan is expected to appear before the Islamabad High Court on Friday after the Supreme Court declared his arrest illegal.
Khan, chief of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party, has challenged his arrest in a corruption case in the high court.
The PTI says Khan will make a pubic statement outside the court after the hearing and has urged his followers to reach Islamabad.

Government vows to rearrest Khan
The Pakistani government has vowed to rearrest Khan should he be released by the Islamabad High Court where he is due to appear on Friday.
Interior minister Rana Sanaullah on Thursday said authorities would rearrest him, setting the stage for more unrest.
“If he gets bail from the High Court tomorrow (Friday), we will wait for the cancellation of bail and arrest him again,” Sanaullah told Dunya TV.
Public gatherings banned in capital
Pakistan police have imposed an emergency order banning gathering of more than four people as supporters of former Prime Minister Imran Khan are expected to march to the capital on Friday.
Nearly 2,000 people have been arrested so far and at least 11 killed after Khan’s supporters clashed with police, attacked military establishments and set other state buildings and assets ablaze, prompting the government to call in the army to help restore order.
