The locals who spotted Madipalli Jithender Kumar and Pamarthi Shashank tried to rescue them but they had already met the watery grave.
Khammam: Two minors drowned in Sitarama project canal at Buggapadu village of Sathupalli mandal in the district on Monday.
The deceased, Madipalli Jithender Kumar and Pamarthi Shashank, both 10 years old and studying third class, went out to play in view of holidays. They entered the canal to swim but as they could not gauge the depth of water they drowned.
The locals who spotted the boys tried to rescue them but they had already met the watery grave. The local police registered a case in connection with the incident and probing.
