Hyderabad: Over 7, 000 students turn-up for CCMB Open Day

The institute today opened its gates to all members of public to walk in, interact with their scientists and understand their research in biology.

Hyderabad: Over 7,000 students from various schools and colleges in Hyderabad and neighboring districts of Rangareddy and Medchal-Malkajgiri got an opportunity of a lifetime to personally interact with top genetic researchers and visit the state-of-the-art laboratories at Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology (CCMB) during its Open Day held on Thursday.

The institute today opened its gates to all members of public to walk in, interact with their scientists and understand their research in biology. The expansive exhibition gave a glimpse of relevant ecology and population level questions to the various organisms studied at CCMB to the atoms that make up living cells.

There were stalls explaining how one can become a life science entrepreneur and how to use art to talk about science. The Open Day got an overwhelming participation from the schools despite their exams going on.

The CCMB thanked the teachers for going an extra mile to bring the students after the exams and in a statement said, “This goes on to tell about the interest in the education sector to know more about what goes on in a real scientific research institute.”
