Hyderabad: Transgenders and cross-dressers arrested for harassing motorists and shopkeepers
The arrested persons are K Dinna Chitra from Yapral, Shaik Mumtaz from Balajinagar, Shaik Ashu from Balajinagar and Shaik Sameera from Yapral, all cross dressers.
Hyderabad: The Task Force (North) zone along with the local police in a special drive against transgender and cross dresser persons caught seven persons on charges of harassing motorists and shopkeepers for money in Karkhana on Thursday.
The arrested persons are K Dinna Chitra from Yapral, Shaik Mumtaz from Balajinagar, Shaik Ashu from Balajinagar and Shaik Sameera from Yapral, all cross dressers.
The main organiser S Chandini, and sub-organisers N Jayasree and Y Manisha, also from Yapral were arrested.
According to Task Force officials, Chandini, who is a native of Srikakulam of Andhra Pradesh who was originally a male person, got Gender-affirming surgery and converted into a transgender person. She is the main organiser. She also got other sub-organisers undergo the surgery and turned them towards begging.
“The gang harasses citizens, particularly motorists at busy traffic junctions and shop keepers and extort money from them. Their acts create public nuisance and cause traffic issues,” said a senior police official.
They have created WhatsApp groups for sharing information on their activities, areas of operations, problems, the official added.
