Revanth assured residents along the Musi riverbed that no pressure would be exerted on them to vacate their houses.
Hyderabad: Amidst continuing opposition against the Hyderabad Disaster Response and Assets Protection Agency (HYDRAA), Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy said only encroachers feared the demolitions and not the poor people.
He assured residents along the Musi riverbed that no pressure would be exerted on them to vacate their houses. Only after providing relief and rehabilitation, the residents would be relocated, he said while speaking at Rajiv Sadbhavana Yatra here on Saturday.
HYDRAA did not demolish any structure in the Musi riverbed area. HYDRAA was different and Musi rejuvenation project was different. People, who were relocated from riverbed area to 2 BHK houses had voluntarily demolished their houses and the government did not even demolish a brick, he claimed.
HYDRAA was constituted to regulate traffic in Hyderabad and to clear the accumulated trash from drains and underground drainage lines and ensure free flow of water. It works to stop dumping of industrial waste into water bodies, he said, adding that the agency would also be used as a tool to initiate action against those who encroach water bodies and government lands.
The Chief Minister also said people, who constructed houses and structures with government permissions, need not fear about demolitions. Similarly, real estate builders and developers also need not worry about their projects.
“People and real estate agencies can present the permissions before the officials. There will be no issue with houses and structures which have permissions. As Chief Minister, this is my assurance,” Revanth Reddy said.
A few people were trying to create hurdles in Telangana’s development and affect the real estate sector in the State and were conducting false campaigns in social media, he alleged.
The Chief Minister also alleged that BRS MLAs Harish Rao, KT Rama Rao and BJP MP Etala Rajender were opposing HYDRAA with ulterior motives and to save their assets.
The Janwada farm house and the one Aziz Nagar were constructed illegally in violation of GO 111 norms. A fact finding committee would be constituted to check the legality of these structures, if the BRS MLAs were prepared, he said, at the same time not mentioning the names of Congress Ministers and elected public representatives who had constructed farm houses in Osman Sagar and Himayat Sagar lake areas.
