Hyderabad: With Group-1 Mains exams commencing from Monday, the police placed several BRS leaders including the party working president KT Rama Rao in an unofficial house arrest and prevented them from venturing out. They have been advised to go inside their homes and outsiders are not being allowed to meet these BRS leaders.
Police personnel were deployed in a large number at the Nandi Nagar residence of BRS working president KT Rama Rao in Banjara Hills. The entire area has been under the strict vigil of hundreds of policemen and tens of their vehicles.
Similarly, the police were deployed at the residences of BRS leader RS Praveen Kumar and Dubbak MLA Kotha Prabhakar Reddy. They were prevented from going out.
In all, around 34,383 candidates are appearing for the Group-1 Mains exams commencing from Monday. The exams will be held till October 27. However, the candidates have been opposing GO 29 brought by the Congress government, stating that it was violating the rule of reservation and denying opportunities for meritorious candidates from SC, ST, BC and minorities to get jobs in open category. A case is scheduled for hearing in the Supreme Court, in this regard.
