Rama Rao along with Amberpet MLA Kaleru Venkatesh and other BRS leaders visited the couple’s residence in Bagh Amberpet and expressed his condolences to the bereaved family.
Hyderabad: BRS working president KT Rama Rao demanded swift action against the murders of an elderly couple, retired bank manager Linga Reddy and his wife Urmila, who were brutally murdered in Sainagar Colony of Bagh Amberpet in Hyderabad. He said the twin murders have shaken the residents of Hyderabad, raising concerns about safety and law enforcement in the city.
Lingareddy and Urmila, both aged over 80, were murdered in broad daylight in Sainagar Colony, Bagh Amberpet. Lingareddy’s three daughters, all residing in the United States, were in shock after learning of the horrific incident in what is considered a peaceful city. Rama Rao along with Amberpet MLA Kaleru Venkatesh and other BRS leaders visited the couple’s residence in Bagh Amberpet and expressed his condolences to the bereaved family.
Speaking to the media after the visit, he expressed his dismay over the deteriorating safety and security in Hyderabad. “During the BRS regime, we installed 10 lakh CCTV cameras across the city and extended surveillance to every street, and area. Citizen policing was also established to ensure peace and security. Yet, there has been no significant progress in this case,” he remarked.
The BRS working president pointed out about increasing concerns over the state of law and order, which was underscored by senior Congress leader and MLC T Jeevan Reddy, who himself admitted that the situation was dire. “Jeevan Reddy’s own follower was killed in Jagtial yesterday, and a couple of days ago, an elderly couple has been brutally murdered in Hyderabad. It shows that law and order are not in control,” he said.
Rama Rao also noted that locals from Saibaba Colony have raised concerns that many of the CCTV cameras in the area were non-functional at the time of the attack. Urging swift action, he urged DGP Jithender and Hyderabad Police Commissioner CV Anand to expedite the investigation and bring the culprits to justice swiftly. He also requested them to conduct a thorough review of all the 10 lakh CCTV cameras and security measures that were put in place by the previous BRS government.
“The people of Hyderabad are scared, and it is crucial for the police to act quickly and maintain public confidence,” he added.
