Tiger from Maharashtra triggers panic in Adilabad

District Forest Officer Prashant Patil said that a tiger residing in the forests of Kinwat in Maharashtra drifted towards Telangana and strayed into the forest of Boath a few days back.

Adilabad: Movement of a tiger that migrated from Maharashtra continued to trigger panic among locals at Chintalbori village in Boath mandal for the third day on Thursday.

District Forest Officer Prashant Patil said that a tiger residing in the forests of Kinwat in Maharashtra drifted towards Telangana and strayed into the forest of Boath a few days back. A base camp was created, while four teams were formed to track movement of the tiger and to ensure smooth passage for the carnivore.

The DFO further said awareness was being created among locals over movement of the big cat. He urged locals not to harm the migrant tiger. He advised them to prevent venturing into deep forest and to avoid sudden confrontation with the wild animal. He assured to extend compensation to cattle if killed by the tiger.

The tiger killed cattle in the forest of Chintaguda village on Wednesday. It was sighted in a cotton farm near Chintalbori. Locals said that they were fearing to harvest cotton crops following the movement of the tiger. They requested the forest officials to take steps to divert it to the forest and to prevent human loss.
