Police officers in Mancherial are in an upbeat mood with the crime registering a downfall this year when compared to last year
Mancherial: Crimes were declined in this year when compared to offences reported in previous year, cheering police officials.
According to annual crime data provided by police, the district saw a total of 4,455 crimes from January 1 to December 29, as against 5,115 offences in corresponding period, showing a decline by 15 percent. However, certain crimes such as burglaries and deaths due to road accidents have gone up in this year.
The district recorded seven burglaries in 2024 when compared to three in 2023. It witnessed 101 burglaries by night in this year as against 96 burglaries reported in previous year. It saw 123 deaths of humans caused by road accidents in this year when compared to 115 fatalities in 2023. It registered 41 rapes in 2024 as against 27 sexual offences against women in 2023.
Similarly, the district witnessed a rise in kidnaps with registering 55 offences in 2024 as against 45 in in 2023. It recorded road mishaps resulting in injuries to 258 persons in this year as against 207 persons in previous year. It saw 371 cheatings in this year when compared to 372 offences reported in the corresponding period.
Meanwhile, missing cases dropped down in the district in 2024. A total of 273 missing cases were reported in this year as against 318 cases in previous year. The district recorded 22 murders in 2024 as compared to 24 in 2023. It registered 19 day house burglaries as against 24 offences in this year in the corresponding period.
Deputy Commissioner of Police A Bhaskar said that efforts were being taken to control crime rate in the district by taking a slew of measures and with the help of the public. He stated that CCTV-based surveillance was being stepped up, besides improving patrolling to curb various offences. He stated that steps were being taken to ensure culprits were punished.
