Actor Venkatesh, family booked in demolition of Deccan Kitchen Hotel case

The complainant claimed that despite a pending injunction from the City Civil Court and orders from HC, Venkatesh and others unlawfully entered Deccan Kitchen Hotel and caused damage with the help of anti-social elements

HYDERABAD: The Filmnagar police registered a case against actor Venkatesh and his family members in connection with the alleged trespassing and demolition of the Deccan Kitchen Hotel last year.

The case was booked based on directions of the court. The police cited producer Daggubati Suresh, his brother Daggubati Venkatesh, Suresh’s son and actor, Daggubati Rana and producer Daggubati Abhiram as accused in the case.

The case was booked based on a complaint lodged by Nanda Kumar, one of the accused in the alleged poaching of BRS MLAs case. Nanda Kumar alleged that despite a pending injunction from the City Civil Court and orders from the Telangana High Court, Venkatesh and others unlawfully entered the properties and caused damage with the help of anti-social elements.

In November 2022, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) partially demolished the hotel and adjoining structures constructed by Nanda Kumar on land taken on lease from the Daggubati family. Nanda Kumar eventually approached the High Court, which had ordered status quo.

In January 2024, the Daggubati family allegedly completely demolished the structure. Nanda Kumar approached Nampally Court for violation of court orders. The court ordered the police to investigate the matter. The proceedings in the case continued, and on Saturday the court issued directions to the police to register a case.
