The incident occurred when the minister arrived at the thanda for the inauguration of double bedroom houses under the Indiramma Housing Scheme on Monday. Tribal women questioned the minister about the alleged irregularities in the house’s allotment.
It might be noted that recently the dalits of Acharlagudem in Nelakondapalli mandal also staged protests against the officials for preparing a list with Congress workers for allotting double bedroom houses.
While the women continued their protest the police threatened the media not to record videos of the incident. The minister who lost patience expressed anger against the tribals and local officials.
The women complained that the local Congress leaders have replaced an earlier list of the eligible beneficiaries with Congress workers’ names. Srinivas Reddy had to leave the venue without speaking in the meeting organised at the thanda.
