
The victim transferred Rs 5 lakh to the bank accounts as suggested by the conman
Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Cybercrime Police on Sunday arrested a person for allegedly cheating a businessman on pretext of selling gold at a cheaper rate.
The arrested Jale Chandra Shekhar Reddy (32), a resident of Saroornagar in Ranga Reddy district had allegedly sent a message to a person aged around 75 years informing that he was going to Mumbai to purchase gold for Rs 50,000 a tola.
To make the victim believe, Shekhar told names of some person who were known to the senior citizen.
“Carried away with the words of Shekhar, the victim transferred Rs 5 lakh to the bank accounts as suggested by the conman. The victim did not receive the gold and Shekhar continued to postpone the delivery on some or the other pretext,” said the police.
The victim then approached the police and made a complaint. The police registered a case and arrested Shekhar. The police seized a mobile phone from him.
