Hyderabad: The Special Division Bench of the Telangana High Court, comprising acting Chief Justice Sujoy Paul and Justice T Vinod Kumar, on Friday issued notices to those accused in the murder case of YS Vivekananda Reddy.
The Bench was dealing with a criminal petition filed by Dr Suneetha Narreddy, the daughter of the deceased, complaining about the inordinate delay in trial before the CBI court.
She sought expeditious disposal of the trial within six months by conducting the trial before the CBI court on a day-to-day basis.
Counsel S Goutham, representing Suneetha, highlighted that the incident occurred in the early hours of March 15, 2019, at the residence of the deceased at Pulivendula and since then even the trial had not commenced.
He also brought to the notice of the court that the case before the CBI court is pending for the last 15 months for supply of documents by the CBI to the accused.
The petition would raise contention that an inordinate delay is not only contra to the verdict of apex court for the effective disposal of criminal cases, but also a poor reflection on prosecution wrongdoings, keeping the victim and family disheartened and disillusioned.
The Bench granted permission for personal notices to be served to the accused, including sitting MP YS Avinash Reddy from YSR Kadapa district, who is involved in the case.
