The TPCC president Mahesh Kumar Goud is reported to have sought a report from the DCC president over Konda Murali’s comments.
Hyderabad: The verbal feud among the Warangal Congress leaders has reached Gandhi Bhavan with TPCC president Mahesh Kumar Goud seeking a report on the comments made by Forest Minister Konda Surekha’s husband and former MLC Konda Murali against a few party MLAs.
Recently, Konda Murali had challenged the turncoat MLAs to resign and seek the people’s mandate again. He had also charged that a legislator, who had worked with Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and BRS, had backstabbed those parties and joined the ruling Congress.
However, the remarks did not go down well with the Warangal Congress MLAs and other leaders who took serious offence to the former MLC’s comments. These leaders held a meeting at Hanamkonda District president and MLA Nayini Rajender Reddy’s camp office on Friday.
Station Ghanpur MLA Kadiyam Srihari, Parkal MLA Revuri Prakash Reddy, Bhupalpally MLA Gandra Satyanarayana, Wardhanapet MLA KR Nagaraju, MLC Basvaraju Saraiah and others attended the meeting.
Responding to the criticism, Warangal West MLA N Rajender Reddy said party leaders should refrain from making derogatory comments against their own MLAs. If they had any issues, they were free to approach the State leadership. If the leaders take undue advantage of the community and make objectionable comments against others, it would not be tolerated, he asserted.
Last October, five Congress MLAs from erstwhile Warangal had complained against Forest Minister Konda Surekha accusing her of interfering in the affairs of their constituencies.
Meanwhile, the TPCC president Mahesh Kumar Goud is reported to have sought a report from DCC president over Konda Murali’s comments. Based on the DCC president and party examiners report, the Disciplinary Committee would take further action, he said.
“Ministers should confine themselves to their respective portfolios and constituencies. They should not interfere in other matters,” Mahesh Kumar has reportedly said.
Jubilee Hills Bye-elections
Meanwhile, the TPCC president said the Congress would field its candidate in the Jubilee Hills constituency bye-elections, which are inevitable due to the untimely demise of sitting BRS MLA Maganti Gopinath on June 8.
Interestingly, former Indian cricket captain Mohammed Azharuddin claimed that he would be representing the Congress party in the bye-elections.
Responding to Azharuddin’s claims, the state party chief said it was his personal opinion and he does not want to comment on it. Applications would be invited from aspirants (for the bypoll) and the party (leadership) would take a final call on the selection of candidate, he stressed.
