Peddapalli: Ramagundam Commissionerate Police handed over 120 mobile phones, worth around Rs 18 lakh, to their rightful owners during a mobile phone recovery mela held at the Commissionerate office in Godavarikhani on Wednesday.

The mela was organised to return mobile phones recovered by the Crime Control Station (CCS) and IT Cell teams, under the supervision of CCS Inspector Sri Babu Rao. Commissioner of Police Ambar Kishore Jha personally handed over the devices to the beneficiaries.

Speaking on the occasion, the Commissioner explained the use of the Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR) portal, which helps trace lost or stolen mobile phones.

In addition to the CCS teams, a special wing has been set up in every police station across the Commissionerate limits to track missing or stolen phones. So far, 2,020 mobile phones have been recovered out of 6,683 complaints registered on the CEIR portal within Ramagundam Commissionerate.

The latest recovery of 120 phones was achieved by the CCS and IT Cell teams. The police urged citizens who lose their phones to promptly block them on the CEIR portal (https://www.ceir.gov.in) and report the loss to the nearest police station.
