A 35-year-old Hyderabad man lost Rs 5.4 lakh to cyber fraudsters posing as representatives of a delivery company. They lured him with a fake franchise offer and took money under various pretexts. A police investigation is underway
Hyderabad: A 35-year-old man from the city was duped by cyber fraudsters to the tune of Rs 5.4 lakh, who posed as representatives of a popular logistics and delivery company.
As per available information, the victim was looking to start a parcel delivery business, searched for options on Google, and found a link. Believing it to be a genuine one, he called the phone number that was provided.
According to the police, a person answered the call and, claiming to be a relationship manager of the company, persuaded the complainant to take a franchise. Under various pretexts including registration, agreement, NOC, machinery costs, etc., they collected a total of Rs 5.4 lakh from the complainant and cheated him by delivering nothing.
Based on the complaint, the Hyderabad Cybercrime police have booked a case and taken up investigation.
