Telangana: Amrabad Tiger Reserve temporarily shut for tourists

The Telangana Forest department took this decision in order to maintain the ecological system and conservation of wild animals during monsoon season

Hyderabad: The Amrabad Tiger Reserve has been temporarily closed for tourists, the public and wildlife enthusiasts until September 30. The Telangana Forest Department took this decision to maintain the ecological system and ensure the conservation of wild animals.

The monsoon season is crucial for the breeding cycles of many wildlife species, including tigers. Closing the core zones allows wildlife to mate, breed and nurture their young without external disturbance, the Forest Department said.

Heavy rainfall during the monsoon can make trails slippery, cause floods and increase risks, posing dangers to both tourists and forest staff, it said. The department added that the reserve’s closure also provides an opportunity to repair infrastructure and prepare for the upcoming tourist season.

The Amrabad Tiger Reserve will reopen for the public, tourists and wildlife enthusiasts from October 1.
