Farmers in Siddipet’s Hymadnagar village confronted PACS staff over alleged black marketing of urea, after being told stocks had run out. Agitated farmers offered to pay higher prices and threatened protests before police arrived to defuse the situation
Siddipet: Farmers, who have been waiting in queue at the Primary Agriculture Cooperative Society (PACS) office at Hymadnagar village in Doulthabad mandal, picked up an argument with the staff, accusing them of selling urea in the black market.
When the staff announced that the stocks had run out, the farmers stormed the office and picked up an argument with them, exposing the discrepancies in sales and arrivals records. The farmers raised slogans against the injustice being meted out to the farmers.
In fact, the farmers also offered to pay the black market price for urea to the PACS staff. On not receiving satisfactory answers from the PACS staff, the farmers threatened to take to the streets and block traffic.
As the situation spiralled out of control, police arrived at the spot and pacified the farmers.
