Former Hyderabad Ranji cricketer Benjamin Thomas announced his retirement from first-class cricket. He thanked mentors, institutions, and the Hyderabad Cricket Association for their support across his long domestic career

Hyderabad: Former Ranji cricketer Benjamin Thomas has announced his retirement from first-class cricket.

He represented Hyderabad in the Ranji Trophy in three games between 2010 and 2013, besides playing in various age-group tournaments.

Benjamin thanked the Hyderabad Cricket Association for extending full support to him over the years.

He also expressed gratitude to the St Andrews School management, where his cricketing journey began, as well as to St Johns Cricket Academy and Don Bosco High School, where he had the privilege to train throughout his career.

The 36-year-old Benjamin, son of well-known coach Christopher Thomas, made special mention of coaches K John Manoj, the late Ashok Singh, Vincent Vinay Kumar, the late Anil Mittal, Noel Carr, and Dixit for mentoring him.

“I played for EMCC in the HCA Leagues thanks to Naresh Sharma sir and even led the team for five years. I have no regrets in quitting the sport,” he said.
