A 17-year-old Adivasi girl was allegedly gang-raped by auto drivers near the Chhattisgarh–Telangana border. Found unconscious in Paloncha, she was rescued by locals and handed over to child welfare authorities. Police are awaiting her full statement before registering a case.
Kothagudem: A 17-year-old Adivasi girl was allegedly gang-raped by a few auto-rickshaw drivers. The incident, which came to light on Sunday, is said to have taken place on August 22 when the girl was going to Konta on Chhattisgarh- Telangana borders in an auto.
The accused reportedly offered her a cool drink and she lost consciousness.
According to police, the place where the offence took place was not yet confirmed as the girl was unable to explain about the incident. She was found abandoned near the Peddamma Gudi Temple in new Paloncha town. Local residents, who spotted her in an unconscious state, handed over to the district child welfare committee.
Her statement was being recorded and a case would be registered in connection with the incident after receiving a complaint from the district child welfare committee, police said. The girl belongs to Chinturu in Andhra Pradesh.
