Hyderabad: Moosarambagh bridge closed as Musi river inflows rise

With rising inflows into the Musi, the HMWSSB opened gates of Osman Sagar and Himayat Sagar, releasing surplus water. Moosarambagh bridge was closed and traffic diverted, while residents in low-lying areas were cautioned about possible flooding.

Hyderabad: With inflows into the Musi river steadily rising, the Moosarambagh bridge was closed and traffic restricted.

The HMWSSB opened ten floodgates, including eight of Osman Sagar and two of Himayat Sagar, releasing surplus water into downstream areas of the Musi. Consequently, traffic police restricted movement on the Moosarambagh bridge and diverted traffic from the early hours of Friday, Malakpet traffic inspector T Ashok Kumar told Telangana Today. Commuters were advised to take alternate routes.

Local residents in Kishanbagh, Jiyaguda, Malakpet, Puranapul, MGBS/CBS, Chaderghat, and Golnaka along the Musi river were cautioned about the heavy inflows by the HMWSSB.

Gates: 2 gates opened to a height of 3 feet; 1 gate opened to a height of 1 foot
