BRS members created uproar in the Telangana Legislative Council, tearing up the PC Ghose report and demanding its discussion. Despite the protest against the CBI probe on the Kaleshwaram project, the Council passed the Panchayat Raj, Municipal Act amendments, and other bills.
Hyderabad: High drama unfolded in the Telangana Legislative Council on Monday as BRS members stormed the podium of the Council Chairman, tore up copies of the PC Ghose Commission report and raised slogans against the Congress government.
BRS MLCs demanded that the Kaleshwaram report be tabled in the Council and opposed the government’s move to hand over the matter to the CBI. They gave slogans like “Bade bhai-Chote bhai ek hai… Kaleshwaram report fake hai” and “Rahul opposes CBI, but Revanth loves it,” bringing the House to a grinding halt.
The ruckus broke out as Minister Seethakka introduced key bills, including the Panchayat Raj Act Amendment Bill, the Municipal Act Amendment Bill and the repeal of the Allopathic Private Medical Care Institutions Act. However, the BRS members rushed towards the Chairman’s podium, demanding for discussion on Justice PC Ghose Commission report on Kaleshwaram project and the subsequent decision of the Congress government to hand over the matter to the CBI.
They tore the Commission report to mark their protest and threw the pieces in the well.
Minister Ponnam Prabhakar lashed out at the BRS, questioning why the party was opposing a CBI probe if it had nothing to hide. He alleged that BRS was also opposing BC reservations. Seethakka too expressed anger over the disruptions.
Despite the noisy protests, the bills were passed without discussion and the Council was adjourned indefinitely.
