Hyderabad: A local court on Tuesday sentenced a man to 20 years rigorous imprisonment for sexually assaulting a woman. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 100 on him.
The man, Swagat Kumar Bhoi (42), a software engineer, had befriended a woman in 2017 and on pretext of marrying her, sexually exploited her on several instances. When the woman insisted on marriage, the Swagat threatened her with dire consequences.
On a complaint, the police registered a case on 28 November 2017. After the trial, the court convicted the man to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 5,100 on him.
